About Us

New Destiny was founded in 1999 and has since operated under the leadership of Bishop and Pastor Smith, who have faithfully served the greater San Francisco Bay Area and pioneered the establishment, development, growth and success of our two congregations in Pittsburg and Oakland, CA. Throughout the past 25 years of ministry, we have spread the Word of God with practical applications, encouraged thousands to pursue a personal relationship with God, and assisted in reaching the lost within our congregation and community.

Through our outreach, we carry the core messages of Faith, Grace, and the Kingdom to help others recognize who they are and thoroughly equip them for higher living. We think of our church as a community of breakthrough believers with a worldwide vision aimed at encouraging others to pursue a personal relationship with God, strengthening families, and going beyond the walls of the church to advance the Kingdom of God through mending the oppressed and brokenhearted. We are committed to making disciples and training and raising leaders that will impact our communities and the world for generations to come.

In addition to being a reportable pastor in the San Francisco Bay Area, Bishop Smith was consecrated as the Bishop of the Global Apostolic Council of Bishops in January of 2010. He is an author of three books, including his latest release, “The Fingerprint of God: A Daily Devotion”. Bishop Smith is also the founder of In Him Embassy Ministries, In Him Publications, and City Reach, which is a non-profit with the vision to influence the next generation through educational attainment and mentorship.

Our Vision

We are thoroughly convinced that God has called us to seek and save the lost.

“For the son of man is come to seek and save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10 (NIV)

God has shown us that we are to tear down denominational and racial barriers, building a multi-cultural church.

“See, I have this day appointed you to the oversight of the nations and of the kingdoms to root out and pull down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant”. Jeremiah 1:10 (AMP)

God has also shown us that we must be committed to proclaiming the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Chris and make disciples  for the kingdom of God. “Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit”. Matthew 28:19 (AMP) Therefore, intercession in prayer is vital to  the success of the ministry.

We are indeed children of destiny ruling with Jesus Christ as kings and priests unto God, Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords, as we shine forth to the entire world proclaiming, “The Kingdom of God is at hand”. Matthew 3:2 (NJV)

Our Mission

The mission of New Destiny is to worship God through serving, loving, evangelizing, and making disciples. 

We are called to build a multi-cultural, apostolic church that strengthens families, and goes beyond the walls of the church to impact our region.

Statement of Faith

  • We believe in the Triune God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

  • Our Lord, Jesus Christ, was the only begotten Son of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary.

  • Jesus was crucified for our sins, died, was buried, and resurrected from the grave. He ascended into Heaven and is now at the right hand of God, the Father.

  • All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God and are in need of salvation.

  • The Church consists of all those who have received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

  • We believe in water baptism and observance of the Lord’s Supper.

  • Healing is provided in the redemptive work of Christ and is available to every believer.

  • The Holy Spirit is a divinity within the Trinity that lives in and guides believers.

  • It is the will of God that every believer be filled with the Holy Spirit.

  • The Old and New Testament are God’s inspired words.

  • There will be a resurrection of the dead, the eternal happiness of the saved, and the eternal punishment of the lost.

  • We believe in the personal, visible, imminent return of Jesus Christ.
