Prayer Focus: Repentance

Repentance is the breeding ground for answered prayer. Focusing on this while fasting certainly gets God’s attention.

2 Chronicles 7:14-15 (NIV) If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (15) Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place.

Prayer

Lord, May I always seek to walk blamelessly before You. Open my eyes to any areas I need to shore up and strengthen during this fast. Show me anything in me that doesn’t please You. I freely receive all that You are pouring into the open spaces I am preparing for You through repentance in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer Focus: Supplication

Supplication is an act to supplicate, to kneel and earnestly or humbly ask for something.

Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV) Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Philippians 4:6 (AMPC) Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your requests known to God.

Prayer

Father, I lift the areas I am fasting before You. I entrust every area of my life to You. I cast every care at Your feet. I am thankful that You not only hear, but Your Word is going before me making the crooked places straight.  Your plan for my life and my loved ones is good and perfect.  Your kingdom come, Your will be done in my life in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer Focus: Reverence

To have reverence for God means to honor and respect Him – to adore, glorify, exalt, delight in, and magnify Him above all else.  Want to know how to get God’s attention? Begin to esteem God higher than everything in your life. Delight in Him and worship Him as though nothing else matters.

1 Samuel 12:24 (ESV) Only fear the LORD and serve Him faithfully with all your heart. For, consider what great things He has done for you.

Psalms 111:10 (NLT) The fear of the LORD is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey His commandments will grow in wisdom.

Prayer

Lord, let my life be a reflection of how I reverence You. I honor and adore You with all of my being. Nothing in my life will ever take center stage, except You; that spot belongs solely to You in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thursday, Jan 11

Prayer Focus: Spiritual Appetite

John 4:34 (ESV) Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent me and to accomplish His work.”

Matthew 5:6 (NIV) Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Prayer

Lord, may I crave more of You.  I am eager to experience You in brand new ways. I know this can only happen if I draw closer to You through Your word.  I understand that to partake of Your word is to partake of You. Increase my appetite for more, more, more of YOU in Jesus’ name, Amen!

Prayer Focus: Spiritual Discipline & Motivation

Spiritual disciplines are the things we do to help us mature spiritually. It all comes down to making a decision, and then committing to the decision you have made.  Some decisions can be choosing not to be stagnant, determining you will excel spiritually. Ensuring you will do whatever it takes to be exactly who God created you to be, even through challenging times.

1 Corinthians 9:27 (NLT) I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.

Daniel 1:8 (NASB) But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself…

1 Timothy 4:7-8 (TLB) Don’t waste time arguing over foolish ideas and silly myths and legends. Spend your time and energy in the exercise of keeping spiritually fit. Bodily exercise is all right, but spiritual exercise is much more important and is a tonic for all you do. So exercise yourself spiritually, and practice being a better Christian because that will help you in this life, and in the life to come.

Prayer

Lord, May I never lack the motivation it takes to do that which is beneficial and necessary for my spiritual fitness and growth. No more slacking. No more giving in to my flesh. My flesh will never want me to do what is good for me. No more being satisfied with just being a Christian. I am making the commitment to override lack of motivation and any feeling that makes me want to forgo that which is for my good in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer Focus: Waiting on Him

Isaiah 40:31 (NASB) Yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.

Psalms 33:20 (ESV) Our soul waits for the LORD; He is our help and our shield.

Prayer

Lord, help me master the art of waiting. Help me to endure the process and capture what You are doing; even when You call me to a season of standing still. May I never miss a time of visitation by not being in the right place, at the right time, with the right heart in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Sunday, Jan 14

Prayer Focus:  Perfect Peace

The next time something comes to challenge your state of peace, commit to acting proactively rather than reactively. Declare, “I will not act emotionally, physically, and verbally. Perfect peace is a matter of the heart, and my heart needs to be protected.” Guard it from anything that attempts to come against it.

Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV) You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.

Psalms 29:11 (NIV) The LORD gives strength to His people; the LORD blesses His people with peace.

Prayer

Lord may I command Your peace by keeping my mind on You. I will pursue and seek Your peace and it will come upon me so strongly that I will not even be able to understand it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
